Annual Celebration: “Protecting Hidden Treasures”

October 5 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm EDT

Enjoy a special evening with friends and neighbors in celebration of “Protecting Hidden Treasures” like our local streams!

The streams that flow through our communities are indeed “hidden treasures”, particularly our headwaters: although many are so small you can jump across them, they form the critically important source waters that we depend upon for drinking, fishing, and so much more. Shaded and filtered by forests, these streams provide abundant, clean water for our families and businesses and support countless wildlife.

Flowing from  hundreds of hidden sources, through our parks and neighborhoods on their way to join with successively larger tributaries downstream, these waters connect us all as part of the Schuylkill River watershed – and in turn, the entire Delaware River Basin.

Your support will help us continue to protect, preserve, and restore these precious resources, as well as to educate and inspire local communities to share in their stewardship!

Our Annual Celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. inside historic Welkinweir with drinks and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a “farm-to-table” dinner  – all made using local ingredients thanks to our partner Jeffrey A. Miller Catering – and a fascinating presentation from author and historian Adam Levine on the Hidden Rivers of Philadelphia under the tent. A 50-50 raffle will end the night – and the winner could be you!

Our guest speaker

Thanks to the sponsorship of BB&T, our guest speaker is Adam Levine, author and Historical Consultant for the Philadelphia Water Department who has worked to piece together the fascinating story of the city’s many lost streams. You will never see the city in quite the same way again – and you’ll gain new appreciation for our region’s free-flowing, Exceptional Value and High Quality streams!

We hope you will join us in celebrating these streams and our work to protect them, and in looking forward to the opportunities and achievements ahead. An evening of delicious, locally sourced food…at a gorgeous venue…full of music and mixed with great conversations with friends & supporters who care about our local environment…all while helping to support what Green Valleys represents–healthy streams and watersheds connecting all of us with nature…it’s an event not to be missed!

Thank you to our supporters!
