Welkinweir House and Garden Guided Tours
Enhance your groups journey to Welkinweir, where sky meets water, by scheduling a garden tour of the Rodebaugh Estate House and surrounding formal gardens of the Arboretum.
Experience the home as it was built in 1940 onto the ca. 1750 and 1830 farmhouse. Designed by Philadelphia architect Fridtjof Tobiessen to blend the natural beauty of the surrounding land and provide a pleasant background for relaxed country living and entertaining.
Set out on a stroll of the luxurious gardens surrounding the home with fine, mature specimens of uncommon trees: majestic European beeches, blue atlas cedars, dogwoods, magnolias, and other flowering trees mixed in with weeping hemlocks, dwarf spruces and pines, and a variety of unique evergreens.
Luncheon
Plan your group tour to include a delightful garden luncheon served on the terrace (weather permitting) overlooking the lake and valley below. Our caterer will serve a delicious seasonal menu featuring items from local gardens.
Holiday Open House
The Holidays at Welkinweir showcase the festively decorated rooms of the Estate House; each room the work of local garden clubs and local horticulture students utilizing greens from Welkinweir's unususal conifer collection and other natural materials. Our rare Skinner organ will fill the house with the sounds of the season. Don't miss the Holidays at Welkinweir ... one of Chester County's most unique properties.
